CAMFIRE BAN | EASTERN MANITOBA
Posted by Oak and Oar on
Looks like we won’t be sitting fire side this weekend. The province of Manitoba has issued a ban on all fires – including campfires – in eastern Manitoba due to the dry passed few weeks we’ve suffered. The ban includes North-West Angle, Sandilands park and those of us in the Whiteshell. All burning permits have been revoked and cancelled with no word of any others being issued. If you think this will only affect us cabin goers your wrong. All forestry, mining and quarry operations have been limited to working evenings and overnight.
This comes after a human-caused fire in the Whiteshell Monday that caused cottagers and campers to evecuate briefly while firefights moved quickly to control the fire that burned up a third of a hectare.
