WEEKEND PLAYLIST | “BAD GIRLS” MIA

Posted by Oak and Oar on February 5, 2012

This track first appeared on MIA’s mixtape Vicki Leekx back at the end of 2010. The video, featuring the full and official cut, finally surfaced this week in preperation for her fourth coming full length LP set to release sometime this summer.

The video, shot in Ouarzazate, Morocco, was directed by Romain Gavras who also shot her very graphic and controversial video “Born Free”. There has been some dialogue as to whether this video is a commentary on Saudi Arabia’s anti-female driving laws vs. M.I.A. just reinventing gangsta swag.

Either way she is set to perform during this weekends Super Bowl half time show with Madonna on her song, ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’, which unfortunately sounds like a rejected Avril Lavigne track. The bright spots being Nicki and MIA’s parts, which though brief are thouroughly enjoyable.
